Using two sets of the bulk correction LANDSAT CCT which have good geographical accuracy, two digital analyses on the seasonal change of the remnant snowpack of Mt. Chokai were progressed.<BR>A computer system was developed to make a remnant snowpack depth map based on the nature of reflectance of various snow types in the four LANDSAT MSS channels. And a trial map has many good indices of real snowpack areas and seasonal changes of deep snowpacks which are existed in late summer. Monthly snowmelt volumes are derived from a simple model equation which explaines a seasonal change of snowcover based on one LANDSAT-2 channel (band 5) records on 4 May and 22 May in 1979. From these digital analyses, quantitative information in the field of mountain nature protections and water resources of deep snowy mountains where snowcovers exceed 10 m depth is available.
