Abstract
Feeding experiments of labeled acetates to Nimbya scirpicola proved the carbon origin of the straight-chain polyketide, depudecin. Differential hydrogen exchange of the 2H label originating from 2H labeled acetate along the polyketide chain occurred. In particular, the deuterium of an epoxide methine at C-3 was lost to a substantial extent in the formation of depudecin.<br>
