抄録

The crystal structure and nature of thermal expansion in the welded zone of zirconium were studied by the X-ray method between the temperature range of 25°∼300°C.<BR>The results obtained were as follows:<BR>(1) The preferred orientation was found in the welded zone.<BR>(2) The axial ratio (c/a) in the welded zone was larger than that obtained after recrystallization of the same zone.<BR>(3) α (linear thermal expansion coefficient in a-axis direction) in the welded zone increased with rise of temperature in the same way as α and α\varparallel (linear thermal expansion coefficient in the c-axis direction) in the non-welded zone, but α\varparallel in the welded zone was nearly independent of temperature.<BR>From these results, it can be predicted that oxygen or nitrogen atoms being dissolved in the zirconium matrix during the welding play some role in the increase of the lattice constant parallel to the hexagonal axis and that they may migrate from an unstable site to a stable site with rise of temperature.
