説明

The behavior of streamborne pollen in the Kako River was studied during the rainy seasons of 1980 and 1984.
Close correlations were observed between the content of suspending substances (SS) and the number of pollen grains and spores in the river water and the varying discharge rates of the river around rainy days.
Furthermore, from the results of sedimentation experiments on the suspending substances including pollen grains in river water, it was revealed that the pollen grains behaved as the particles with the size of 11 to 44μm and that the behavior of the pollen grains that remained in the riverbeds seemed to be determined by their inherent grain sizes and not by their shapes.
