Abstract
The feasibility of powder lubricant (insulating powder) which was used for the shot sleeve coating by the electrostatic method proposed in the previous paper was examined to suppress the solidification of molten metal in the shot sleeve in case of aluminum alloy die casting. Owing to the good insulation and lubrication, no scattered structures were observed, and mechanical properties were noticeably improved. Since the injection propagated well in castings, chill layers were formed in the vicinity of casting surfaces and density of the castings increased.
