抄録

  Ferrite transformation starts at lower temperature than pearlite transformation in a flake graphite cast iron containing about 2.5∼3.5mass%C and 1∼3 mass%Si. In other words, a ferrite transformation region exists in a pearlite transformation region in a CCT diagram for a heat treatment. Experimental results of this unique phenomena can be well explained by using an one dimensional approximate solution for a diffusion equation for calculating carbon distribution in a matrix. This unique phenomena is considered to originated from the difference in the local carbon concentration in the matrix near the graphite and in the center part of the matrix during cooling. This is not a peculiar transformation process in a steel but in the flake graphite cast iron. These experimental and theoretical studies clarify the new ferrite and pearlite transformation mechanisms in the flake graphite cast iron.
