抄録

  The wear losses of mild steel were found to vary markedly by changing the impact angle and to have special angles that showed the maximum wear. In case of ductile iron, the maximum wear angle is 60 deg. In this study, the dependency on impact angle during erosive wear for ductile cast iron was simulated by the Tabor theory and FEM (MARC/MENTAT) to analyze the plastic deformation of alloy surface as a single particle collision. The impact angles to have maximum wear were explained successfully. The total corresponding plastic strain was evaluated within the range of contact depth 0.3 mm and length 0.6 mm. The frictional coefficient μ was changed as 0.15 and 0.3. The peak of plastic strain was shown at the impact angles of 60 to 90 degrees. The dependency of erosive wear rate on impact angle agreed quite well with the results by experiments.
