Low-cycle fatigue life Nf was measured on eight kinds of cast iron with different graphite and matrix structures under push-pull load. The relation between Nf and the structures was also investigated. The relations between total strain amplitude εT and Nf of various cast irons are ;<br> 0.017=εT Nf0.176 : flake graphite cast iron<br> 0.062=εT Nf0.234 : spheroidal graphite cast iron<br> 0.014=εT Nf0.146 : eutectic graphite cast iron<br> The above relations for flake and spheroidal graphite cast irons are independent of the characteristics of static strength. The fatigue life is also discussed metallographically.
