Casting CAE has started from 2D solidification analysis of 1960', and in the first decade of 21C it has reached practical stage in the area of solidification and flow simulation. Based on experimental study and computer technology progress, casting CAE has been improved especially in flow analysis accuracy of stepwise grid, vacuum/air-pressure in die-cavity, shrinkage defect prediction method, optimization method, shorter analysis time, and other developments, and it has become a important software tool of simultaneous engineering. In next decade, higher development efforts should be needed in casting phenomenon study, new CAE software functions, automatic optimization method, and it should be linked with higher value-added castings and defect-free casting process.
