Abstract
Fundamental physics on indirect-drive implosion by an intense laser pulse is reviewed. This type of implosion is superior to the direct-drive implosion on a view point of heating uniformity and hydrodynamical stability, however, there are many problems to be clarified in radiation-hydrodynamics of dense matter. X-ray conversion, absorption and implosions driven by X-rays are discussed with recent experimental data and simulations.
