Before entering the discussion a bit of caution had been voiced by Mr. Ohnishi, Chairman of the Conference, to all participants whose characteristics in this case consist mainly in that they are all post-war graduates from major universities of the country and thus of the younger generation in the industry having enough know-how to represent the highest level at least in one single aspect of the technology relating directly or indirectly to the latest papermaking : They were requested to speak freely in their own responsibility and not to express the views of the company they were coming from. This was strictly observed in all segments of the discussion.
