Abstract

Pitch-problems appeared often in pulping and bleaching processes as well as on papers, the end product of Sendai Mill of Chuetsu Pulp Industry Co., Ltd. <BR>These troubles were supposed to be due to the peculiarities mainly with properties of the process water used, wood chips accompanied with barks, and others. <BR>When sea water came up and mixed into the process water during the time of spring tide, the problems heavily increased. <BR>To solve the problems brought from the bleaching process, application experiments of the finegrained talc suspended in aqueous sodium hydroxide solution to the chrolinated pulps were made both in laboratory as well as in commercial scale. <BR>Apparent decrease of the troubles was proved in both cases. <BR>Such application of talc were also shown to be valid even when mixing of sea water into the process water occured.
