Abstract
“Formaldehyde isolation test” was applied on the studies on the degree of cure of mela - mine-formaldehyde resin on stoving, and the relations between stoving time and the physical properties of laminate treated were investigated.<BR>Logarithm of the apparent rate constant of curing on stoving was proportional to logarithm of the amount of catalyst added in varnish, and the apparent rate constant increased with decreasing of pH of varnish.<BR>The apparent activation energy of stoving was ca. 19.3kcal/mol.<BR>On stoving at ca. 100°C, the physical properties (flexural strength, impact strength, Rockwell hardness etc.) of laminate treated showed no deterioration even in the range of over-cure.
