Abstract
New polyesters were prepared by mthelt polycondensation, from aliphatic dibasic acid and their dimethylesters and dimethylterephthalate with 4, 6-dimethylol-m-xylene.<BR>Co-polymers of 4, 6-dimethylol-m-xylene and ethyleneglycol with dimethylterephthalate were prepared. Co-polymer properties such as melting point, solubility, crystallinity were measured. The increase of 4, 6-dimethylol-m-xylene content improves the solubility. Above 20 mol% of 4, 6-dimethylol-m-xylene, the co-polymer became translucent, and melting point of the co-polymer became minimum for about 40 mol% of 4, 6-dimethylol-m-xylene.
