Polyaniline (pAn) films doped with aqueous H2SO4 solutions of pH=1 and pH=2 have been studied for electrical conductivity depending on moisture. In the case of light doping (pH=2), protons are removed from or joined to pAn molecules with changing the amount of included water, which leads to the quick response of conductivity at the early steps of drying or wetting. In heavy doping (pH=1), absorbed water contributes to enhanced conductivity by increasing the size of the crystallized regions. The slowly responded conductivity within the first several minutes should result from this structural change.
