抄録

The photo-copolymerizations of some N-substituted maleimides with styrene or vinyl acetate by ultraviolet light proceeded almost similar to the radical initiated copolymerization.<BR>The styrene monomer did not polymerize under the copolymerization conditions. It was proposed that theactivation of maleimide monomer preceded.<BR>The photo-sensitized polymerizations of N-substituted maleimides by visible light have been investigated usingvarious sensitizers.<BR>Some anthraquinonoid vat dyes were found to be very effective, and the N-substituted maleimide monomer, which is inert to the ultraviolet light irradiation, polymerized easily.
