説明
Chemical weathering and alteration are caused by water-rock interaction in an open system. The process of interaction may be represented by a series of partial equilibrium state, in which reaction between the solution and the solid produces a second mineral that is compatible with the solution but not with the solid phase. The series of events occurring with time in a closed system can transferred into that distributed in space in an open system, and the weathering and alteration zoning in the field is interpreted. In the experiment of alteration reaction, the assumption of patial equilibrium is fairly true, except for some cases. Formation of a metastable phase and its transformation into the stable one are observed in the experiment and in the field evidences, and are considered to be characteristic phenomena of weathering and alteration. An experiment of the dissolution of kaolin minarals indicated that the transformation might be performed by the mechanism of the dissolution of metastable phase and the precipitation of stable one.
