Abstract

In the preceding paper, geometrical factors governing the characteristics of induction of air-outlet diffusers using swirl flows were found out in case of the secondary air side being open to the atmosphere, and their proper values were determined experimentally. In the present paper, relations between the geometrical factors and the characteristics of induction of diffusers are treated in case of attaching ducts system to the secondary air side. As a result, following facts were clarified: (1) When the flow resistances at the secondary air side are increased, the diffusers resonate with the pressure fluctuations in recirculating zones, and audible sounds are issued from them. (2) The characteristic curves which are expressed by relations between the intensity of induction and the ratio of the volumetric flow rate of the secondary air to that of the primary air become linear at no resonance regions. (3) The characteristics of induction of diffusers are affected clearly by the magnitude of cross-sectional areas of primary air inletnozzles.
