Abstract
The study evaluated the energy saving measures of office buildings from the viewpoint of energy demands reduction as well as of the optimum energy supply system. The effects of the demand mitigation by the demand side energy saving measures, such as the applications of highly efficient lightings, better insulation levels, variable air/water volume systems, and heat exchangers were simulated using a simulation tool. Then, a set of demand data was integrated with the optimization model of energy supply systems, and the cost minimization was performed by the linear programming method. The optimization result showed the relationship between the energy saving ratio and the combination of energy saving technologies. It was found that the energy saving ratio of 26% could be achievable with the economically rational combination of present technologies.
