説明
We measured basal metabolic rate (BMR) in elderly people participated in health promotion program. The subjects were 14 females aged 59.0±5.9 year and 16 males aged 64.8±6.4 years. Mean heights were 155±4.2 and 165±4.0cm, and mean body weights 53.9±3.7, and 62.9±11.5kg in females and males, respectively. Percentage of body fat estimated by skinfold thickness was 28.0±7.6 for 17.7±5.3% in females and males, respectively. BMR was 1, 064±92kcal/day and 1, 337±211kcal/day in females and males respectively. BMR adjusted for body weight was 19.8±1.8kcal/kg/day and 21.2±1.9kcal/kg/day in females and males, respectively. BMR adjusted for body surface area was 30.01±2.43kcal/m2/hr and 33.71±2.83kcal/m2/hr in females and males, respectively. Absolute value of BMR and BMR adjusted for body weight and body surface area were significantly different from other study in females of fifties (p<0.05, p<0.05, p<0.01, respectively). BMR adjusted for body weight was significantly different from other study in males of sixties (p<0.05).<br>There were significant relationships among BMR adjusted for body weight and red blood count (p<0.05), uretic acid (p<0.05) in males respectively. There were also significant relationships among BMR adjusted for body surface area and white blood count (p<0.05), blood urea nitrogen (p<0.05), triglyceride (p<0.05) in males respectively. This suggests that decrescent function of internal organs has the close relationship with BMR.
