Abstract

In the previous report presence of vitamin D sulfate was examined with molecular sieve analysis and spectrophotometry on the vitamin D sulfate fraction isolated from Shiokara.<br>In this report vitamin D sulfate was identified by TLC, enzymatic analysis and IR, and effect of vitamin D of this fraction on the growth of rats was examined. Rf and colour reaction of spots developed on the chromatogram of this fraction and the IR of sample incubated with vitamin D coincided with those of synthesized vitamin D sulfate. Growth effect of this fraction as vitamin D was not so remarkable but clearly recognized in comparison to the control animals.<br>From these results, it was found that vitamin D sulfate contents of Shiokara was larger than vitamin D itself.
