説明
The effects of the dietary phosphorus level and form of phosphate salts on the kidney mineral concentration, kidney function and mineral balance were examined in rats. Four-week-old weanling female Wistar rats were used. The animals were fed on a diet containing sodium dihydrogenphosphate (NaH2PO4) or sodium tripolyphosphate (Na5P3O10) at a level representing approximately 99.7mmol/kg of diet as the normal phosphorus content (normal-phosphorus diet), or at approximately 391mmol/kg of diet as the high phosphorus content (high-phosphorus diet) for 21 days. The kidney wet and dry weights were significantly higher in the rats fed on the high-phosphorus diet than in the animals fed on the normal-phosphorus diet. The kidney calcium, magnesium and phosphorus concentrations were also significantly higher in the rats fed on the high-phosphorus diet, and there was no different effect exerted by NaH2PO4 or Na5P3O10 provided as the dietary phosphate salt. The creatinine clearance was significantly higher in the rats fed on the high-phosphorus diet containing Na5P3O10. While the urinary albumin excretion was also significantly higher in the rats fed on the high-phosphorus diet, there was no different effect exerted by NaH2PO4 or Na5P3O10 provided as the dietary phosphate salt. High-phosphorus diet-feeding had no effect on the apparent absorption and retention of calcium, but it resulted in significantly lower apparent absorption and retention of magnesium, and significantly higher apparent absorption and retention of phosphorus. NaH2PO4 or Na5P3O10 provided as the dietary phosphate salt did not have a significantly different effect on the calcium, magnesium and phosphorus balance. These results suggest that NaH2PO4 or Na5P3O10 provided as the dietary phosphate salt did not exert any different effect on the kidney mineral concentration, kidney function or mineral balance.
