抄録

In the present paper, the interaction between PCB toxicity and several water soluble vitamins in the diet was investigated.<br>Weanling male rats of the Sprague Dawley strain received the experimental diets containing 0.1% PCB which tetrachloride isomer was dominant.<br>The rats fed PCB with an each deficient diet such as thiamine and pyridoxine reduced their body weight more significantly than that of the 0.1% PCB group. However, the addition of thiamine and pyridoxine as much as 20 times of the normal level to a 0.1% PCB diet was not effective for growth of these vitamin-added goups over the 0.1% PCB group, and for suppression of the liver enlargement and the increase of serum and liver lipids.<br>Thiamine content per gram and whole liver of rats fed a 0.1% PCB diet for 11 weeks decreased significantly, but thiamine content in the liver per 100g body weight did not change. It seems that this was caused by the low dietary thiamine intake. Under the present experimental conditions, the growth of rats fed PCB was not influenced by the niacin deficiency.
