Abstract

The author wants to propose "Microscopic Reactor Physics" as a new challenge of Reactor Physics. The Microscopic Reactor Physics is a research field to understand the overall nuclear reactor system by considering the space-dependent microscopic properties such as effective cross sections, number densities, power distribution, and temperature distribution within fuel rods. In this paper some examples of the Microscopic Reactor Physics are illustrated to extend the theory and experiment of Reactor Physics, and future contribution to related research field such as fuel integrity and reactor safety.
