Abstract

The strength of adhesion between iron metal and some synthetic rubbers (NBR, CR, SBR and IIR) was measured with using chlorinated rubber as the adhesive reagent and was found to be weaker in the order of NBR, CR, SBR and IIR.
In the case of NBR and CR, the strength of adhesion (vulcanization temperature: 150°C, vulcanization time: 60min.) was so strong that the rupture occurred in the region of synthetic rubber.
In the case of IIR, the adhesive power was very weak.
This was made a remarkable improvement by using halogenated butyl rubbers as the intermediate layer between IIR and adhesive reagent.
