抄録

Tensile stress relaxation behavior in the rubbery region at large deformations were investigated for several species of raw rubber by using an Instron type relaxometer. The samples used were three SBR of different molecular weights (2×105-6×105), one polybutadiene and one natural rubber. The temperature range and the strain range examined were 35-135°C. and 0.1-5.0, respectively.<br>A composite stress-relaxation curve was successfully formed from a group of relaxation curves obtained at various temperatures with a fixed strain by means of the method of reduced variables for each sample irrespective of the magnitude of strain. The shift factor, log aT, was found to be independent of strain for each sample.<br>The doubly logarithmic plots of the composite relaxation curves at various strains appeared that each curve could properly be shifted vertically along the log stress axis to form a composite curve irrespective of the species of rubber.<br>Thus we have<br>S(t)=f(γ)∫-∞He-t/θd(lnθ), <br>where S(t) and H represent the stress (attained) and the relaxation spectra, respectively, and θ is the relaxation time. f(γ) is a function of strain, γ, and is independent of both t and θ.<br>f(γ) was found to be expressed by neither f(γ)=γ nor f(γ)=[(1+γ)2-(1+γ)-1]/3 over the entire range of strain examined, but it could be well described by the empirical equation, <br>f(γ)=ln(1+γ).
