抄録

In this paper, the authors considered theoretically about the mechanism of ozone cracking of rubbers, assuming that the decomposition energy of ozonide depends on the stress forced on the chains of rubbers. The conclusion obtained after mathematical treatments are:<br>(1) The decomposition ratio of ozonide in crack part and non-crack part is expressed by<br>1+(n1/2/√2π)(τ"/t)<br>Hence, n is numbers of chains of rubbers cut by ozone, t is the observed time and τ" is the relaxation time.<br>From this equation, many things like (1) the reasons of grouth of crack (n1/2), (2) the difference of shapes of cracks varied by the concentration of ozone or antiozonant and (3) the effects of plasticizer can be discussed.<br>(2) The theoretical curve of time (t0) until crackings occure is related with the products of rate of ozonization (v0) by stress (f0). Namely, “to” is proportional to (f0v0)-1. for small f0v0 and log (t0) is proportional to (f0v0)-1 for large f0v0.
