We studied that the blending effects of cis-and trans-1.4 polybutadiene rubber varied the ratio (cis/trans) 100/0, 75/25, 50/50, 25/75, 0/100. Blending methods were adopted three processes as follows:<br>(1) raw polymers were blended on the mill, (2) filler pre-mixed polymers were blended on the mill, (3) raw polymers were blended in the solution. And the properties of these blended raw polymer, compounded polymer, and vulcanized polymer, i. e. intrinsic viscosity, Mooney viscosity, X-ray refraction, infrared absorption spectrum, phase separation in the solution, mechanical strength and swelling in benzene, were measured.<br>From the results, it was found that.<br>1. The differences of blending state by mixing methods were not clearly recognized.<br>2. Observing the mixing state of blend polymer by electro microscope, X-ray refraction and infrared spectrum, two polymers were not mixed perfectly and were micro heterogeneous.<br>3. From the measurement of cis-, trans-ratios in extract of initial vulcanizate, vulcanization rate of trans polymer were later than that of cis polymer in blend polymer.<br>4. Cis rubber vulcanizate did not show the sharp X-ray refraction pattern at 550% elongation.
