Abstract

Molecular weight dependence of mechanical data obtained by using a Mooney Viscometer at a fixed temperature of 100°C was investigated for SBR samples having molecular weights ranging from 1×105 to 8×105.<br>The following empirical equations were obtained for the time independent constants involved in Eqs. (1), (2) and (3) in the text:<br>ML00[1-(ξ0/Mv)], <br>τ=φMv3.4, <br>XL=ζ[1-(ζ/Mv)], <br>YL≡ML-XL=σMv, <br>AL=δ(Mv-ξ).<br>Here Mv represents the viscosity average molecular weight of the sample and ζ0, ξ0, φ, ζ, ξ, σ, δ and ξ are the constants independent of molecular weight. The values of ξ0, ξ and ξ were found to be approximately the same (9×104g/mol).
