The velocity of oceanic current in deep sea measured with geomagnetic electrokinetograph-indirect method-is slightly different from the real value, because of geomagnetic disturbances, ship's drift by wind, tidal current and so on. The geomagnetic disturbance, if happened, might cause the most serious error in GEK record, but usually we neglect it, since such a great disturbance does not occur frequently. The ship's drift by wind will introduce some errors, but they will be relatively small. The tidal current does not appear in GEK record, since it is distributed homogeneously in the depth. The drift of the the ship is affected by all the factors of current and wind drift. The vector differences of these values-ship's drift and measured current with GEK-give us the tidal current and the direct effect of the wind.
