Description
It is generally accepted that our preferred flesh-color is based on our memory-color. In the present paper, our memory-colors of flesh-color were compared among Mongoloid, Caucasian, and Negroid. Woman pictures of the three races, wearing same gray cloths, sitting before gray backdrop, and possessing almost same area ratio of flesh color, were shown on a LCD display, and colored by testees with their memorized flesh-color for each image. The results showed that mean hue angle of Caucasian was smaller by about 10 degree than the other races and any remarkable difference in the mean hue angle between Negroid and mongoloid was not observed, but the mode value of Negroid was larger by about 5 degree. In lightness Caucasian and mongoloid showed distribution in an almost common region, distribution of Negroid located in lower lightness region and did not overlap that of the other two races. These results agree with the reported real flesh color data and suggest that distribution of our memory color of Mongoloid, Caucasian, and Negroid reflects the distribution of the real flesh color.
