Description
It is very difficult for engineers to measure directly and accurately small torques which vary dynamically during a short period of time. Occurence of such fine torques may be seen, for ezample, in the hands of clocks and some measuring ins truments. An original method of detecting such torques by using an optical device is stated in this paper. The device is composed of a line-sensor camera, a motion detector, a transient memory unit, a wave analyser, and a micro-computer. The characteristics of the dynamic torques on the second-hand of clocks driven by step motor are examined by this device. By changing some conditions such as source voltage, posture, and some defects of the gear train of clocks, typical characteristics of the dynamic torque s are obtained. From the view point of rationalization of quarity inspection of products, results given here are consideted very useful for checking clocks whether they are running normally or not.
