Abstract

<p>Fully differential MOBILE comparators using resonant-tunneling diodes and their applications to second-order continuous-time delta-sigma modulators are described. The operation frequency and signal-to-noise ratio of a lowpass 1-bit delta-sigma modulator, as well as a lowpass multi-bit modulator and a bandpass modulator, have been estimated by transistor-level circuit simulation. Our results prove the high potential in multi-GHz-frequency regions compared with modulators based on conventional technologies.</p>
