Abstract

Superconductivity was observed by intercalating alkali and alkali earth metal atoms into picene (C22H14) solids. The superconducting transition temperature of K3C22H14 ranges from 7 to 18 K, while that of Rb3C22H14 and Ca1.5C22H14 is 7K. The superconducting transition was also observed for aromatic hydrocarbons other than picene. The obtained results may provide a new research stage for organic superconductors.
