Abstract

The final goal of earthquake and tsunami PRA (Probabilistic Risk Assessment) for nuclear power plants is the evaluation of CDF (core damage frequency). Although there are some examples of probabilistic risk assessment on the rising water level for this CDF calculation, there are few evaluation cases on the downside of the water level for intake facilities. Therefore, in this study, we proposed a probabilistic risk assessment method in a practical intake facility for the downside of the water level, and verified the validity of this method for the sea area along the Kuril Trench - Japan Trench. From this simulation result, it is considered that the effectiveness of proposed method for probabilistic risk assessment of the downside of the water level in the intake facility and annual rate of exceedance for several lowest water level in the intake tank caused by the tsunami was shown.
