Description
Gravity theory is a gauge theory of spin 2 field, and it can be extended to gauge theories with higher spin fields. Higher spin gauge theories can be treated as toy models of superstring theory. Recently they have attracted a lot of attention mainly due to the application to the AdS/CFT correspondence, which is an example of gravity/gauge correspondence. Here we would like to introduce higher spin gauge theories and explain how these theories are useful to understand the AdS/CFT correspondence.
