<p>Local structure of 11-Bromo-1-undecanethiol (BUDT) in organic self-assembled monolayer (SAM) chemisorbed on solvents / silver substrate interfaces (Ag/BUDT) were evaluated by using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). The structure of the C-S moiety of the Ag/BUDT SAM was dependent on the polarity of the solvents. More BUDT formed the trans conformer in the C-S moiety in more polar solvents. On the other hand, in less polar solvents, the number of the trans conformer was decreased, therefore the composition of the SAM become more homegeneous.</p>
