Description

This paper summarizes my presentation at Otaru University of Commerce. It demonstrates key elements of a high-quality research paper. The audience of my presentation consisted of young researchers who were planning to submit papers to Organizational Science. The objectives of the presentation were to illustrate contributing factors to appealing papers, and following six tips were shared: 1) researchers should be careful with writing style and avoid amateur mistakes; 2) academic research is a dialogue with literature, and researchers’ work should be developed based on previous works; 3) researchers should make their papers not only appealing but also easy and clear enough from beginning to end; 4) researchers should write papers with summaries and highlights for the convenience of their readers; 5) the conclusions of papers should be generated based on rigorous analysis and logical deduction, not based on wild guess or imagination without concrete ground; 6) researchers need to be aware of the limitations of normal science and seize the opportunity to make evolutionary contributions by investigating exceptional cases emerged from observation.
