Abstract

The NIJL-NW Project, operated by National Institute of Japanese Literature (NIJL), has promoted creative uses of digitized images of pre-modern Japanese books. Among these, books on Edo cuisine attracted special attention that resulted in a collaborative project with CODH (Center for Open Data in the Humanities) and private enter-prises. Hopefully, this project was widely covered by the media. This paper outlines this project and discusses potentialities and problems that arose from cooperation with the private sector.
