Abstract
It is called "Proustian phenomenon" to recall our memory triggered by odor. The aim of this research is to clear the situation when Proustian phenomenon is occurred, and how we experience during the Proustian phenomenon. One hundred and eleven students participated individually. They were asked to fill in a questionnaire and post it in a box. As results, major four situations when Proustian phenomenon occurred were founded; they were triggered by nature odor, odor of one's family or house, odor of one's special person, and one's impressive odor. For the experience, we can see Proustian phenomenon from five perspectives; the affection, the psychic distance between now and then, the feeling of connection between the odor and the memory, unexpected feeling, and the feeling of wonder and impression. Moreover, the relation between Proustian phenomenon and flash back experience and Proustian phenomenon and Deja Vu experience were indicated.
