Abstract

In this study, in order to investigate the effects of freezing and thawing action on impact resistant behavior and residual load-carrying capacity of RC beam, falling-weight impact loading tests of frost damaged RC beam were conducted taking height of weight-falling as variable. After that, static loading tests were conducted. Here, frost damage levels were evaluated by means of relative dynamic elastic modulus. From this experiment, following results were obtained: i) failure mode of frost damaged RC beam subjected to impact loading could be expected by means of the distribution of relative dynamic elastic modulus; ii) residual load-carrying capacity of frost damaged RC beam after impact loading is almost the same as the case of non-frost damaged one if any typical diagonal cracks cannot be observed.
