  • A Comparative Study of a Demoted Team and a Team Close to be Demoted From the J1 League

Abstract

<p>We conducted quantitative and case study analyses to analyze the influence of the verge of crisis and the crisis itself on organizational performances, by using a comparative study of the following two soccer teams: a demoted team and a team which is close to be demoted from the J1 league.<br>The result of quantitative analysis indicates that leadership change and fatigue from crisis have negative effects, although the impact of these influences depends on whether the organization has fallen into a crisis or it is on the verge of a crisis. The result of case study analysis shows that characteristics of the leader is important for good performances when an organization has fallen into a crisis and its members are tired from the crisis, while a quick decision to change leaders is important when an organization is on the verge of a crisis and its members are tired from the crisis.</p>
