Description

Objective: To compare the medical expenses and the treatment result of the each device in cerebroarterial thrombectomy in Japan, we studied about the insurance cost, operative cost, device cost, and a treatment result of every patient.

Methods: The case was 126 patients who calculated “Operative code: K178-4 percutaneous intracerebral thrombectomy was 30, 230 points” in our hospital. The case using Stent Retriever was “group S”, and the case using Penumbra system was “group P”. A case using both devices together was “group P+S”. And we studied about the insurance cost, operative cost, device cost, and a treatment result in each group.

Results: In all cases, it was equal in treatment result with each device. In the posterior circulation, group S was the highest rate in modified Rankin Scale (mRS) 0-2, and the daily mean cost and total insurance cost were small. In the anterior circulation, group P was the highest rate in mRS0-2, and the daily mean cost and total insurance cost were small.

Conclusion: Group S was the cheapest device cost in the case taken cerebroarterial thrombectomy. In addition, the good therapeutic device, which was the lowest cost for acute period and get good outcome, was group P in the anterior circulation, and was group S in the posterior circulation.
