Abstract

Purpose of the present study is to design and improve the evacuation guidance signage units and put them into practical application based on requirement factors and design requirements for the evacuation guidance signage in case of wide area disaster obtained from our previous field study.<br>We examine the visibility and the set position of signage units created referring to blinking markers. As the results, the visibility of the signage units are enhanced by means of using LED lights as evacuation guidance information and continuous setting of signage units show adequate evacuation guidance routes.<br>Suggested evacuation guidance signage units have the possibility of faster understanding of adequate evacuation directions and faster evacuation by using together with the conventional evacuation guidance and complementing mutually.
