Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate tidal flat substratum material by electric furnace slag as alternative sea sand or gravel stone. When we used electric furnace slag in the seawater pH were not rising. Manila clam larvae on the electric furnace slag were 3-14 times than that on the gravel stone. In the growth experiment of juvenile Manila clam, the survival rate of Manila clam in the electric furnace slag was almost the same as that in the gravel stone. The biomass of Manila clam in the electric furnace slag was almost the same as that in the gravel stone. We confirmed that the electric furnace slag can be used as tidal flat substratum material which can be used as the alternative sand or gravel stone.
