Abstract

Inhibition of precipitation adhesion to electrodes in potentiometer titration was examined for the purpose of automatic and highly accurate measurement of the chloride ion content of a sample salt solution. The adhesion of precipitates to the electrode was inhibited by the addition of dextrin to the sample solution. The influence of the concentration of dextrin on the measured chloride value was examined, and an optimum concentration of dextrin was determined. As a result, the chloride ion amount could be automatically measured with a high degree of accuracy with the addition of dextrin to the sample solution.
