Abstract

This research examined the process of becoming independent community activity by mothers from initiated community activity by care provider. It focused on the process of changing through from the first one to the third one. Mothers (N=5) participated in a group interview about their experiences in the community activity and evaluations for supports by care provider. In Analysis 1, the following five substantive efforts were extracted by qualitative analysis of mother’s reports: ‘the basis for activities’, ‘projecting’, ’securing revenues’, ‘promotion’, ‘getting a spot for activities’. In Analysis 2, qualitative analysis showed that mothers depended on the arrangement by a care provider about the first community activity, but they became independent in the second one while relying on community network introduced by a care provider. Looking at mothers’ narrative for the third one, it was discovered that they increased the sense of independence in the third one for improving human, physical and economic resources, and regarded the community activity as something separate to activities basis on parental role. It was found that mothers appreciated the supports that respect that mothers’ independent by care provider in the Analysis 3. Finally, the discussion focused on the multilevel mothers’ independent in parenting support comparing with conventional community activity by mothers.
