Description

Since the first report of mesoporous metal organophosphonate (MOP) in 2003, the self-assembly of amphiphilic organic molecules, which is the famous synthetic method for the preparation of ordered mesoporous materials, has been applied. The first publication was about frameworks composed of aluminum organophosphate, providing hydrophilic porous environment which was rarely observed in existing mesoporous materials, and their hydrophilicity can be controlled to some extent. Moreover, in the reports on mesoporous titanium organophosphonates, their usages in liquid phase, such as heavy metal adsorption, photodegradation of organic pollutants and CO2 capture, has been proposed. Considering the previous researches, this review focuses on non-siliceous mesoporous materials, which frequently shows characteristic properties, especially on mesoporous MOP prepared through the reaction between bridged organophosphonates and metal sources, with their synthetic methods and applications.
