<p>The purpose of this study is to reveal what the nurses are aware of as risk factors during the day and twilight shifts as well as to examine the differences in awareness by the nurses during the day and twilight shifts. A survey using a questionnaire was conducted among 542 nurses who work for the internal medicine wards and surgery wards of three general hospitals. The results are shown below.</p><p>1. The nurses had awareness of "patients' factors," "self factors," "team factors," and "organization factors" as risk factors.</p><p>2. Awareness of 8 items including "patients' factors" such as oral administration of medicine, awareness of 1 item including "self factors" such as receiving order of physician, awareness of 4 items including "team factors" such as team members' skills, and awareness of 3 items including "organization factors" such as atmosphere in the ward were high during the day shift.</p><p>3. Awareness of 4 items including "patients' factor" such as patients' symptoms, awareness of 2 items including "self factors" such as team members' physical condition, and awareness of 1 item including "organization factors" such as rule in the ward was high during the twilight shift.</p><p>4. The item related to the injection and the fall about which a lot of medical accidents are reported doesn't have significant difference with the work shifts.</p>
