Abstract

We report a case of gastric cancer that was treated by laparoscopic distal gastrectomy, with an Adachi type III vascular anomaly. A 75-year-old man was referred to our hospital for gastric cancer treatment. Endoscopic examination revealed a 0-IIc lesion in the lessor curvature of the lower gastric body. Preoperative multidetector row computed tomography (MDCT) showed an Adachi type III vascular anomaly, where the celiac and superior mesenteric arteries form a common trunk. We performed laparoscopic distal gastrectomy with D1+ lymph node dissection and identified the three-dimensional angiographic findings. We could perform laparoscopic surgery because we had determined the arterial running pattern beforehand using MDCT.
